Founded in 2002, The University of Winnipeg Student Film Festival (UWPGFF) is an event hosted by the University of Winnipeg department of Theatre and Film in Winnipeg Manitoba.

Mission

Providing a stepping stone for student filmmakers to expose themselves to the greater industry outside of their post-secondary institutions and celebrate new emerging filmmakers.

Vision

We produce short film screenings, talks and workshops as a way for both our local and greater communities to look, listen, and learn - sharing in part with what unites us, our love for cinema.

Mandate

The purpose of the UWPGFF is to screen as many student films as possible in front of other students and to encourage and foster communities among youth, students and both the existing local and international industry.

  1. We aim to create programming that inspires, engages and educates emerging and aspiring filmmakers.

  2. We aim to create programming that is entertaining and inspiring for our audiences.

  3. We aim to continue to provide resources and educational programming that is free to attend for emerging and aspiring filmmakers.
