UWPG Film Festival gears up for 2022 line-up and 20th anniversary

October 17, 2022

Starting next week the UWPG Film Festival launches the 2022 Edition, an exciting showcase of 29 short films, documentaries, experimental and animation works created by post-secondary students from all over Canada and the Globe. The Festival runs October 19 - 21, 2022.

“We are delighted to share that this year we are offering two Shorts Programs that feature Manitoban and Canadian works, as well an International Shorts Program and a variety of industry panels and talks,” says Festival Director Eric Peterson. “The films we have selected this year range from absurdity to personal stories that reflect or draw inspiration from real life.”

The Festival will take place over 3 days and continue to offer virtual screenings via Livestream on YouTube Live. There will also be an Encore Screening of all programs on October 22, 2022.

UWPGFF’s mission is to provide a stepping stone for student filmmakers to expose themselves to the greater industry outside of their post-secondary institutions and celebrate new emerging filmmakers.

Peterson adds, “This year’s 11 works featured by Manitoban filmmakers show the growing talent of filmmakers in our province. The UWPG Film Festival works as a great opportunity to showcase these works and also collaborate with our expanding film industry and community in the province, to spotlight possibilities for post-secondary students and future students. We also continue our increasing efforts to highlight work from across Canada and the world, and we look forward to featuring more great films in the years to come as we pass our 20th Anniversary milestone.”
